Meet the Team

  • Photographer

I’m a photographer based in Boston, MA that specializes in architectural, aerial, and interior photography. I’m also a shameless timelapse photography nerd.

I feel lucky to engage in a career that takes me to all the far flung spots of the city that I love. Documenting Boston’s growth is exciting and the relationships built along the way are very rewarding.

Outside of the office, I can be found spending time outside with my wife, chasing solar eclipses, and staring at rock formations in the American southwest.

    brag brag brag

Like I said, anything but boring and I have the perfect job to match my eclectic personality too. Day to day I encounter some pretty interesting situations, dealing with stagers filling juice glasses with flat orange soda to give a pop of color to an otherwise dull kitchen, to hanging off a balcony just to get the right shot of a landscape. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and enjoy collaborating with clients to get that perfect image. My job is anything but dull and I love it all!

  • Director of Video Productions

I’m passionate about living a creative life. I moved from Vermont to Boston in 2009 to study at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. One of my first jobs out of college was as a guard at the ICA Boston. I literally stood and stared at artwork from 9-5 for over two years straight. I didn’t make much and the concrete floors weren’t forgiving, but I learned some things that have stuck with me ever since. I’ve developed a belief that creativity can solve any problem, and that visual art can expand our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Art is transformative. This is what I’m most interested in as a creator.

I spend most of my time working remotely - consulting with clients, brainstorming concepts, planning our next on-location shoot or editing video. However, when the weather is nice, drop everything, because we need that footage to hit our next deadline! My favorite part of my job is filming and interviewing people. There’s always something magical that happens when you get permission to film someone that wants to share their story.

I’ll always be a true New Englander at heart. Outside of work I can be found exploring our backyard with my wife in southern Maine. I enjoy surfing, fly fishing, gardening, cooking for friends, playing soccer, shaping surfboards in our workshop, or watching Liverpool soccer games with our cat, Steve French. Bonus points for anyone who knows which television show Steve’s name is from!

  • Photographer

Hi, I'm Kimberly Hallen, a Connecticut-born and New England-based photographer specializing in real-estate and architectural photography. I have been capturing stunning images of homes, buildings and other structures for nearly 20 years, and I am passionate about what I do.

Living in New England, I've always been captivated by the region's architecture. I realized early on that I wanted to capture these structures in a way that showcased their beauty and history. I studied photography at Emerson College in historic downtown Boston, and have since witnessed the city's incredible growth first-hand. From the Seaport to Fenway, to Somerville and communities surrounding Boston, I'm extremely grateful for the opportunities I've had to view it all through a lens.

My photography style is both modern and timeless, with a goal of shining a light on the potential that each home or building holds. Of course, shooting photos is only half the equation. Editing is where my perfectionist tendencies really shine, making hundreds and hundreds of tweaks, curated with intention.

The feeling one gets as they enter a room -- the sights, the light, and angles -- this is hard to describe with words. I enjoy working with agents to suss this out, and capture what the agents want to portray in a space. The photographer's eye, coupled with the agent's experience and knowledge, it's a potent and successful combination. And I look forward to working with you on it.

My other full-time job is as a mother of two. I take way too many pictures of them. When we're working together, please ask to see them! Of course I want to show them off, along with pictures of my dog too!

  • Director of 3D Visualization

If I had a time machine and could tell myself in middle-school what my job is now I'd be thrilled! I taught myself to use animation software growing up in Holliston, MA. And now I make 3D animations for a wide variety of properties and get to use my problem solving skills and creativity to create eye-catching videos. My degree from GWU is in interior design so I really appreciate that measuring for floor plans gives me the unique opportunity to see so many homes. I love getting to know the personalities of all the different neighborhoods in the Boston area and having the chance to pet so many of the dogs and cats that live here.

  • Videographer & Photographer

They call me a swiss army knife or a Jackie of all trades. I get to work on both the photography and video side of the company. On the field you may find me capturing portraits, interviewing, working on audio, flying a drone, or filming from a helicopter - if you see one in Boston, wave hello that might be us! Sorry if I don’t wave back my hands are tied. My favorite part of my job is meeting different people and learning their stories.

I completed my bachelors at Berklee College of Music in Pro Music, went on world tour with some amazing bands as a tenor saxophone player. Meanwhile I always had a camera in my hand producing album covers for musicians and filming concerts. I’m always working on fun projects outside of work or choreographing dances. Some of which my awesome coworkers joined in on! You may have seen me recently in a movie called Love Weddings & Other Disasters starring Diane Keaton playing the saxophone or at your local REI store modeling for their gear!

  • Founder & President

I started Boston Virtual Imaging over 20 years ago as a way to earn a living from my passions for photography, video, real estate, and the City of Boston. I now invest my time supporting and expanding the skills of our team members so that we remain the most experienced and innovative production company in New England. I still enjoy getting my hands in a project to: conduct interviews for documentaries, write scripts, or fly a particularly challenging aerial assignment.

If you ask the rest of our team, they might say that I'm a bit obsessed with making sure that our customers' needs and expectations guide everything we do.

I like fixing and making things. I enjoy solving production and business problems. I try to constantly learn. I read as much as possible. I weld. I solder. I write code. I was awarded a US patent for something I created.

I've enjoyed living in almost every neighborhood of Boston and feel a strong connection with the city. My wife Kristine and I now live in the 'burbs west of Boston and we're parents to three sons who make life a constant adventure. We enjoy mountain biking, hiking, camping, skiing, boating, and anything else we can do together outside.

I graduated from Boston College but most of my relevant education is learned from books and trial and error. I've come to believe that the work itself is often the best teacher of how to do it.

Enough about me. What can we do to help you?
